From India Poker Championship

The India Poker Championship (IPC) heads to the island country of Sri Lanka for its next edition from 04-08 September, at Bally’s Casino in the state capital of Colombo. This event was originally slated for July, but was later postponed. The IPC team has confirmed a 5 day  schedule which will be highlighted by a INR 25,000 (LKR 53,500) Main Event. There are also guarantees in place for most of these events which are given below.

Interestingly enough the player who was crowned India Poker Champion 2013, Anuruddha Meddegoda hails from Colombo. Meddegoda, who is presently competing in the World Series in Las Vegas, is expected to make it back in time to participate in this event and he will look forward to scoring another IPC title, this time on this homeground.

This is the first time India’s biggest tournament poker brand is going international. “Being a fantastic tourist destination, Sri Lanka has plenty on offer for the players. Our partnership with the country’s biggest casino Bally’s will ensure that players will have a great time playing at IPC Colombo.” said IPC’s Peter Abraham.

“We want our players to have a world class experience and with that in mind, we are thrilled about Roberto Wong (formerly of PokerStars Macau and Poker King Club Macau) coming onboard as Tournament Director for the event”, said IPC’s Jasven Saigal.

According to Johnson Perera, International Marketing Manager for Bally’s Colombo, players will not be disappointed with the nightlife that Colombo has to offer. “Visitors can take in the sights and sounds of the city as well as some amazing destinations outside the capital. IPC players will also enjoy exclusive deals and facilities courtesy of our tie-ups with some of the best 5 star hotels and spas in the city. So whether you chose to travel solo or with family, I’m sure there is something for everyone.”

And to back up all that live tournament excitement is IPC’s partnership with online poker portal Adda52 which is offering players four INR 25,000 Main event seat packages for absolutely free! “We are very excited to be associated with the India Poker Championship and believe this is a tremendous opportunity for poker players to win Main Event seats and airfare packages into IPC Colombo,” said Anuj Gupta, Chief Executive Officer for Adda52.

“The potential of Sri Lanka as a poker destination is huge and IPC has always in believed in giving the best possible experience to our players. With the backing of our host venue, Bally’s Casino, we hope this first ever international edition of IPC will be a great success,” said Rajeev Kanjani from the IPC.

From pokerwala, we wish the best possible luck to the tournament and hope the event is a succes, so Indian poker players can keep enjoying tournaments not only in existing Indian casinos, but also internationally.
