Spicejet to offer a direct flight to Macau from Delhi

05 September 2013

SpiceJet Airlines Ltd is on the verge of beginning flights between New Delhi and Macau, Macau Business Daily reports.

After a year of the application made by SpiceJet, India’s Directorate-General of Civil Aviation approved the request to open the route for the low-cost airline.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Macau is now expected to approve the airline’s application. The first flight could be as soon as the end of March.

Macau, being the a top gaming destination worldwide, and already surpassing in gaming revenues Vegas, is certainly trying to explore the Indian market.

This direct flight is expected to increase the inflow of Indian players to Macau Casinos. Currently the flight connections from India to Macau are quite inconvenient, with long waiting transfer hours, and connecting fligths mainly in Thailand and China.

One thing seems quite clear, is that Spicejet by applying for such route, is trying to capture on the lack of gaming offer in India.

Macau is not an unknown destination for India poker players. Some of the big names of poker in India have already left outstanding results in the number 1 Asian gaming hub, specially in Pokerstars LIVE poker room in City of Dreams.
