Zynga re-thinks Ongame acquisition

14 August 2012

The network that Bwin wants to sell just lost another potential buyer, Zynga, that a few weeks ago shown interest in acquiring the Ongame network after the failure in the negotiations with shuffle master. A few weeks ago, CEO Mark Pincus declared that is intention to expand Zynga’s business to real wagering poker, and Ongame was the ideal partner to explore this market.

However, sources inside Zynga say that the recent agreement between DoJ and PokerStars for the acquisition of Full Tilt is the main reason why Zynga wants to back down from the Ongame deal.

Ongame is the 5th biggest poker network in the world and its traffic has recently suffered a decrease in 20%. If we join this to the re-entry of Full Tilt in the Online Poker scene, then the business is not as attractive as it was before white Tuesday.
