The colossus tournament is at the centre of controversy once again. The lack lustre first place prize of $638,880 which is about 5.7% of the prize pool, left many thousands players irate at being unable to claim their payout prize. The Rio all suite hotel and casino centre saw a queue of about 200 people gathered and even after an hour and a half the line seemed to not move or make any progress. The lag in payouts was technical glitch arising from a system lag. This resulted after about 193 players got their payout which was an unprecedented number because of which 1500 players found themselves queuing up to receive their payouts.

The 2006 main event had 873 payouts but for the current year, out of 22,374 players who tried their luck, 2,241 players in the colossus awaited their payment. Players are allowed as per regulations to collect their payout at any time after the game. Many players sought to take advantage of the regulation but dozens remained lingering to collect the payouts. This led to a lot of commotion as the payout for the colossus event. The poker players were quite agitated and wondered why the process could not be done manually since the registration was half manual.
