Delaware Second State to Legalize Online Poker

Delaware joined Nevada in the list of U.S. states that have legalized online poker. After approval of the State Senate, the only thing missing was the signature of Governor Jack Merkell, which happened yesterday.

Merkell signature transform the Delaware's Competitive Gaming Act of 2012 into law, after it was approved by the Senate with fourteen votes in favor, six abstentions and one vote against (going with the 3/5 required for approval).

This Delaware's Competitive Gaming Act of 2012 includes various forms of gambling, besides online poker, they include casino games (online and live), and American football betting.

A spokesman for the governor says that this law will help create jobs, and supporters of the law argue that it can generate $7.75 million in tax revenue per year.

Now the Senate will proceed to the creation of appropriate regulations, and is expected that in early 2013 the citizens of Delaware be able to play Online Poker.
