Erik Seidel

Erik Seidel was born on November 6, 1959 in New York. At the tender age of 12, Seidel appeared on the television show "To Tell the Truth". In 1970, he spent eight years traveling the circuit of backgammon and participated in a series of tournaments. Eventually, Seidel became involved in the stock market and supplemented his income playing poker at the legendary Mayfair Club alongside names such as Dan Harrington, Howard Lederer, Mickey Appleman, and Steve Zolotow.

When the stock market crashed in 1987, Seidel was unemployed and decided to try his luck in the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. In 1988 W.S.O.P. Main Event Seidel finished second to Johnny Chan in a hand immortalized in the movie Rounders. On the final hand, Seidel had Q-7 and the flop came out Q-10-8. Chan was building his nut straight with J-9 with a favorable turn and river Chan then made his all-in. The rest is history. This famous second place, in which he earned $ 280,000, din’t stop him from winning eight WSOP bracelets:
1992 $2,500 Limit Hold'em ($168,000), 1993 $2,500 Omaha Eight-or-Better ($94,000), 1994 Limit Hold'em $5.000 ($210,000), 1998 $5,000 Deuce-to-Seven Draw ($132,700), 2001 $3,000 No-Limit Hold'em ($411,300), 1500 $2,003 Pot Limit Omaha ($146,100) in 2005, $2,000 No Limit Hold'em ($611.795), and 2007 World Championship No Limit Deuce-to-Seven Draw Lowball w / rebuys ($538,835).

Other poker acheivements include the fourth position in 1999 WSOP Main Event ($279.500), the second at the 2007 Aussie Millions $100.000 AUD ($550,000 AUD), second in the 2008 Aussie Millions $ 10k Main Event (880 000 U.S. dollar AUD), and winning the World Poker Tour Foxwoods Poker Classic in 2008 ($992.890). Barry Greenstein commented on the bracelet Seidel, 1994: "I remember in 1994 when he won the $5,000 Limit Hold'em World Series of Poker. I gave him congratulations on his victory and with his typical humility, he said to Me: "Actually, with the extension of good cards i held it would have been embarrassing not to win." Since moving to Las Vegas in 1995, Seidel has found much success in poker. It currently has over $ 10 million in tournament winnings. On his free time enjoys playing tennis, playing poker online, and listening to music (he posted a large list of your favorite albums and playlists on his website) has even said: "I'm somewhat obsessive about music and watch "sitcom" is my part-time work. As I have very little interest in writing about poker, I thought it would be fun to have a section dedicated to music.

It is sometimes known by his nickname "Sly". Another interesting fact about Seidel is explained by Greenstein, "Erik is very protective of his cards until the final table with cameras, he tries to hide them. Most people think that he doesn’t want to reveal his strategy. But perhaps what he wants is not to show how good he is on playing poker! "
