PokerStars denies casino and sportsbook rumors

05 September 2012

A few days ago, we did echo of an article published in calvinayre.com, which launched a speculation on the possible entry of PokerStars in the market for sports betting and casino. Speculation came following a survey that the red spade room sent to some of its customers, inquiring about their gambling habits.

This set off alarm bells, it seemed that PokerStars would put the spotlight on bets, a situation that echoed in the head of the leaders of the great halls that dominate the market at the moment.

But apparently, it's been unfounded speculation, as recently as today we read at Pokerfuse.com, Eric Hollreiser, Director of Corporate Communications for PokerStars has come out to disprove these rumors, but didn’t close the door completely.

"We are always open to new business opportunities that could strengthen our offer to players, but right now we're focused on the relaunch of Full Tilt Poker and so increase delivery of online poker worldwide with our two brands."

In fact, right now, where PokerStars is the great leader in online poker, actually does not make sense to focus on other businesses, much of its success can be this: be focused solely on online poker.
